Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 September 2026

RP Speaks (“we”, “us”) publishes analysis and commentary at https://rpspeaks.com.
This page explains what personal data we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

RP Speaks is an independent publication run by Rajesh Pillai. For any privacy
question or request, email hello@rpspeaks.com

What we collect

Comments. When you leave a comment we store the name, email address, and website
you enter, your IP address, and your browser’s user-agent string. This helps us
detect spam. A hashed version of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to
show your avatar; see https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Contact by email. If you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can reply
and follow up.

Server logs. Our host, Hostinger, automatically records standard technical data
(IP address, pages requested, timestamps) to keep the site secure and running.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics (via the Site Kit plugin) to understand how
many people visit and which articles are read. It sets cookies and processes usage
data; IP addresses are handled by Google. See
https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on:
https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Cookies. Commenting can set cookies to remember your details for next time.
Logging in (site administrators only) sets session cookies. Analytics sets its own
cookies as described above.

Embedded content. Articles may embed content from other sites (e.g. YouTube,
X/Twitter). Those sites can collect data about you exactly as if you had visited
them directly.

How we use it

Only to publish and secure the site, reply to you, moderate comments, and measure
readership. We do not sell your personal data.

Who we share it with

Service providers that make the site work: Hostinger (hosting), Google (analytics),
and Automattic (spam filtering / Gravatar). Each processes data under its own
privacy policy. We may also disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep it

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so we can recognise and approve
follow-ups. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings.
Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your query.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct
it, or ask us to delete it (except anything we must keep for legal or security
reasons). Email hello@rpspeaks.com and we will respond within a reasonable
time. If you have left comments, you can also request an export or erasure of that
data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above will
change when we do.
